It was nice to have a decent break over Xmas as these past few weeks have been pretty hectic.
The new year brought a new student which is good. I've realised that teaching makes me really consider my own playing. I guess, like a lot of drummers who have played for a long time, a lot of what I play is kind of second nature and I don't necessarily think how it all coordinates. Teaching makes me break apart each beat, each fill and every rhythm. Hopefully, I can pass on my knowledge successfully to aspiring drummers and in the process improve my playing further! Whatever happens, I'm enjoying myself.
Giving the Roland kit a break for a while too. It's been great playing my 'proper kit'. Ok, so it's a pain to mic up but there's been no latency issues and technical mishaps that plagued me towards the end of last year.
